When we look at commitment to our health and fitness, it’s easy to see a lot of obstacles: time, energy, money, family obligations, commuting, etc.
We could come up with a million of them.
But I’m getting real with you today…
Your biggest obstacle is never what you think it is. Your greatest challenge will always be your own mindset.
There’s a quote by Kenneth Blanchard that I love: “There’s a difference between interest and commitment. When you’re interested in doing something, you do it only when it’s convenient. When you’re committed to something, you accept no excuses, only results.”
There’s nothing but truth to this statement.
If you really, truly want to move past obstacles in any area of life whether it’s health, fitness, business, finance or even relationship, you have to take complete ownership and personal responsibility. Once you do that, you realize that you are in control, not of everything that happens necessarily but of how you react to it.
And you get to CHOOSE your behavior and commitment.
If you have a bad day, you choose whether you hit the gym even harder and follow through with your healthy dinner plans OR use the bad day as an excuse to skip your workout and have some pizza. It’s all in your hands.
So, will you choose to take hold of your own mindset and remove the biggest obstacle you’ll face in achieving or maintaining your health and fitness? Or will you let it control you? The choice is yours!
